Gender and Sexuality Diversity

Cedar Crest College is dedicated to creating an environment based on inclusivity. To that end, the College prefers to use the term 'Gender and Sexuality Diversity' (GSD) in place of the 'LGBT+' acronym that many are familiar with as this term is more inclusive of identities that do not fall under L, G, B, or T. Regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, Cedar Crest is committed to seeing all students grow and develop.

The CDI works with students, faculty, and staff to pave the path towards equality and acceptance through programming and advocacy. The Center partners with the GSD student group "OutThere" and Faculty & Staff to provide support to all persons at Cedar Crest.

Gender Inclusive Restrooms and Policy

Gender Inclusive Restrooms Policy Cedar Crest College affirms the right of all students to use a restroom according to their gender identity without fear of discrimination, retaliation, or harassment. Cedar Crest College also maintains single-stall, gender-inclusive restrooms in most buildings which are open to the public and all members of the College community. In regards to residential halls, please reference the College’s current policy and practice.

Gender Inclusive Restrooms ensure that all students, faculty, staff and campus visitors have a place where they feel safe using the bathroom. The College wants to make sure that there are accessible, gender inclusive restrooms throughout our campus. Making sure that everybody has a choice in every building. A Gender Inclusive Restroom is a restroom that anyone of any gender can use. In contrast, gender segregated restrooms are those that mark "women" or "men" on the door. Full list of locations and example signage can be found below.

If there are any questions or concerns in regards to the above statement please don’t hesitate to contact the Director of Diversity and Inclusion

Pronoun Buttons are a fun, simple and stylish way for people to express their gender identity, and help those who are confined or assigned to a gender stereotype by removing the “guessing” element of everyday interactions. With these pins, we can be clear and proud about who we are without people attempting to guess, and with each pin worn, we’re working to provide a more inclusive and heuristic environment for the entire CCC community.
