Description
This course is the first nurse anesthesia course an overview of basic principles related to the practice of nurse anesthesia. Emphasis is placed on learning and applying basic skills, principles and theories to the perioperative anesthetic management of the healthy adult population patients. Anesthesia equipment is thoroughly described and analyzed from a functional perspective. Emphasis is given to equipment check-out and safety. Aids to vigilance monitors are appraised and critiqued. This course presents the anatomic and physiologic basis of airway management and describes the applications, benefits and risks of a variety of airway management modalities. Common airway challenges are discussed.
