Academic advising at Cedar Crest College is a dynamic, collaborative process with the mission of assisting students in succeeding academically, developing meaningful goals, articulating career plans, and fostering students’ individual responsibility for their education. Advisors provide reliable information and make appropriate referrals to assist students in making sound academic decisions.

Absences – Students who miss a class for any reason are encouraged to complete an absence notification. That form can be found here: https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?CedarCrestCollege&layout_id=3 . It is important to review your individual course syllabi for details regarding absences specific to your course.

Academic Standing – At the end of the fall and spring semesters, student progress is reviewed. Should certain benchmarks not be met, students may be placed on conditional standing, probation, or face dismissal. For more details, refer to the current college catalog found here: https://www.cedarcrest.edu/catalog/catalog2022-23/undergraduate_policies.shtm.

Add/Drop – Students may add or drop courses at the very beginning of each semester. Deadlines are posted by the Registrar’s Office in the academic calendar and can be found here: https://my.cedarcrest.edu/ICS/Current_Students/Registrar's_Office/.

Course Withdrawal Form – To leave a course after the add/drop period, students should complete a withdrawal form. For some programs this has an impact on progression. The form can be found here: https://my.cedarcrest.edu/ICS/Current_Students/Default_Page.jnz?portlet=CUS_Course_Withdrawal_Form.

Full-time Status – Students with 12 credits (or more) are full-time. This impacts financial aid, housing, and nonimmigrant visa status. Requests for overload registration of 19 or more credits can be submitted here: https://my.cedarcrest.edu/ICS/Current_Students/Registrar's_Office/Home.jnz?portlet=Overload_Registration.

Late Withdrawal Appeal – Students who miss the withdrawal deadline may submit an appeal for a late withdrawal. These are considered on a case-by-case basis. The form can be found here: Late Withdrawal Appeal Form.

Leave of Absence (sometimes referred to as a medical leave) – Students needing to pause their education for any reason can submit a leave of absence. Withdrawal – Students seeking to leave the college before completing their program of study should submit a withdrawal. The form for both can be found here: https://my.cedarcrest.edu/ICS/Current_Students/Default_Page.jnz?portlet=Withdrawal_Application.

After completing the evaluation, you will have the option to make a copy of their results to print or send them via email to your advisor. The language program director will also have access to the scores to verify placement or for future reference. Please note that a placement score at the extremes of an indicated range should consult the language program director before shifting to a higher- or lower-level course.
